Indicator Setup for Steelhead

This is our recommended indicator setup for your steelhead fishing. Buy the starter kit today.

Checklist:

  • Beads, bead stoppers and bead hooks
  • Fly rod 10’ 7wt and sealed drag reel to match rod (entry, mid, and high-end level outfits)
  • Glo bug eggs, sucker spawns
  • Leader: 9’ 0x or 1x fluorocarbon leader
  • Nymphs (Black stoneflies, Psycho prince, Prince Nymph, Caddis Nymph, etc.)
  • Split shots or putty
  • Strike indicators 3/4" or medium size
  • Swivels or tippet rings
  • Tippet: 1x and 2x fluorocarbon spools (3x with low flows)
  • Wooly buggers, and zonkers
