Fly Tying Classes

Join CRO and Mike Kainec for a winter fly tying class or two. Mike is one of the better tiers and instructors around and anyone would benefit greatly from his classes. Learn not only how to tie beautiful flies but as importantly why they are tied this way or to achieve certain movement or action, to push water, create noise, kick, etc. Please call the shop or stop in with any questions. Materials, snacks, beverages included for all classes. Please bring your own vise and tools.

PA Trout Fishing

When: May 2-4

Arrive Friday May 2nd, Depart Sunday May 4th. Fish Friday afternoon, all day Saturday, half day Sunday, depart for home 1pm. 4 hours from Cleveland

Included:  Lodging, meals, guided fishing.

Not Included:  Gratuity for guides, lodge staff, fishing license.

Cost:  $899 - 50% deposit required at registration.

Join Chagrin River Outfitters for this comprehensive intro class on how to be a more successful steelhead angler right out of the gate.  Consistently catching fish, especially Steelhead, does not happen by accident.  We want to show you how to rig, how to read the water, how to fish a run, bucket, and slot effectively and efficiently.  Learn the answers to why stream flows are so important, what's proper river etiquette, why does water temperature matter, is fly color important and more.  This is a class we have been doing for many years, and without a doubt it is a huge benefit to anglers of all skill levels.  Limited to 10 anglers per class.  To register please call Chagrin River Outfitters at 440-247-7110 or stop in our shop in downtown Chagrin Falls.

The most frequent comment we typically make or hear as guides, fly shops owners, and hosts of destination travel are about how anglers need to work on their casting skill set before they embark on a trip. The fact of the matter is none of us are nearly as good as we think we are when it comes to fly casting whether on a single hand or two hander rod. If you rate yourself a 7, you're probably a 4......at best.

Improving your fly-casting skills will increase your confidence on the water, make your time on the water more enjoyable and less frustrating, and lead to catching more fish, plain and simple. If you are just getting started let's build a strong foundation, if you are a seasoned angler looking to improve their double haul, casting a sinking line, casting into the wind, want to throw big stuff better, or want to deliver a dry fly on target and achieve a great drift we can help.

We also offer Spey casting lessons and can teach you the most commonly used Spey casts, like the single Spey, the Snap-T, the Double Spey and others.

Based on skill level and what we are trying to improve upon, or learn, 3-4 sessions are recommended.
