Chagrin River Outfitters was founded in 2006 by Dan Pribanic in historic downtown Chagrin Falls. Since the doors opened, Dan has compiled a solid staff consisting of top-notch, personable individuals with many years of experience in the fly-fishing industry. Our staff has guided, fished, or visited some of the most popular fly-fishing destinations around the globe – and thus can be a great resource to anglers, no matter what their target or destination.
Due to the shop’s close proximity to the Chagrin River and the instructional space nearby, we are able to conduct clinics, casting instruction, and many other events at the store. We frequently host fly tying classes during steelhead season and entertain speakers and presenters covering a wide range of fly-fishing related topics.
Our shop is centrally located amidst northeast Ohio’s premier steelhead streams. Our guides and staff are out fishing every day, and thus we are always able to provide an up-to-date fishing report to point anglers in the right direction for good fishing.
As a “full-service” fly shop we carry a diverse selection of industry brands including Simms, Scott, Orvis, Lamson, Sage, Scientific Anglers, Redington, Beulah, Abel, Rio, Winston, Ross, Bauer, Fishpond, Pacific Fly, Tibor, and many others. Who We Are
Dan Pribanic - Owner
Dan Pribanic started fishing at a very young age and never really stopped. Starting with spinning rods and bait, his fishing began to evolve and eventually he took up fly fishing. He has fished all around the country, Mexico, and the Bahamas, in both fresh and saltwater and says his favorite type of fishing is whatever he happens to be doing at the time. His experiences with many different types of tackle and the variety of species and waters he has fished have helped to make him a great angler and even better guide. His 35 years of fishing and 15 years of guiding have also helped to make him a great instructor/teacher as well and is equally comfortable with newer anglers as well as the more experienced. A day with him will help make you a better caster and fisherman, learning techniques you can take with you and apply on your home waters.
Fabio Malaspina - Shop Associate
Fabio started fly fishing in Italy for Grayling and trout on the Po River near the Italian Alps. He has now lived in Northeast Ohio and chased steelhead for close to 30 years. He started indicator fishing for them, but now he loves to swing flies for them with a switch rod. He also likes to dry-fly fish for trout but chases many different other freshwater species. He has fished in Alaska, Canada, Michigan, Montana, New York, and Pennsylvania. In the last few years, he has also fished for bonefish, permit and tarpon in Belize and the Bahamas. He ties his own flies. Fabio has volunteered for Project Healing Waters and is now a volunteer for Patriots On The Fly. Fabio loves to help customers of all skill levels.
